Sanctuary Window 4—The Comforter—C

Welcome back to Windows Wednesday! Today, we are examining the bottom portion of Sanctuary Window 4, which exemplifies Christ as “The Comforter.” In this panel, we see a minister counseling a couple. Our church is committed to the care and comfort of all, and we support that effort in many ways.

Our ministers, and particularly our Minister of Pastoral Care, Rev. Douglas Denton, visit sick and grieving members of our church family in times of desperate need to provide comfort, counsel, and a listening ear. Rev. Denton also, with the help of many volunteers from our church Circle groups, helps to coordinate the weekly delivery of flowers to people who cannot leave their homes to attend worship. A full 5% of the church’s annual budget is devoted exclusively to this direct care for those in difficult circumstances of all kinds. In addition, our missions contributions, both physical and financial, help keep local, state, national, and international services functioning for the good of all. The Holy Spirit is at work, shining the light of Christ through all of us to reach out in comfort to our fellow human beings. Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace which was given me by the working of his power. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all men see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things. Ephesians 3:7–9
