Welcome back! This week, we will examine Chapel Window 6, The Sermon on the Mount. At the top of the window, we see the continents of the earth, centered on the Atlantic Ocean, representing God’s gathering together of the waters under the sky to allow dry land to appear. Below that, we see Jesus delivering his Sermon on the Mount. This image represents the preaching of Jesus. It serves as a very appropriate choice, as many of the themes of Jesus’ preaching are represented in this Biblical story found in Matthew, chapters 5–7. You can see the crowd gathering to hear Him speak to the lower left. The organ sits in front of this window, so the lower third is a continuation of the colorful background.
