Crisis Counsels from the Scriptures #45

We continue our reflection this week about a passage in the book of Proverbs. In the previous days we have looked at these two verses: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge God, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) The next verse continues –

Do not be wise in your own eyes; revere the Lord, and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 3:7

Those who think that they have all the answers – who are “wise in their own eyes” – generally bring distress on themselves and others. True wisdom comes when we “revere the Lord and turn away from evil.” In these unusual times we are all especially in need of wisdom. May we look with reverence to the Lord, that we may find the genuine wisdom that comes from God.

Prayer – Grant us wisdom, O God, that we may live rightly in these days. Click To Tweet
