Crisis Counsels from the Scriptures #43

The book of Proverbs contains many wise counsels for living. This week in Crisis Counsels we will focus on some of the insights shared in Proverbs chapter 3. Verse 5 says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.

There is a higher wisdom that comes through trusting in God. If we rely only on “our own insight,” we are not seeing enough! One Biblical example of this was in yesterday’s Old Testament passage in worship, which recounted the experience of the people of Israel in the wilderness, when they could not see any solution to the fact that they had no food in the desert. They needed to trust in God; for God was able to provide for their need through the “bread from heaven” – the manna in the wilderness.

Today we often struggle to perceive the answer for many problems, and it is common for people to make decisions that are not the best. The Scriptures point us to a better way – to look to God in faith, and open ourselves to the guidance and help that God will give.
