Goodness and Mercy Will Follow Me

There is one word in the Old Testament used more than any other to describe the character of God.

It is the Hebrew word, chesed, which means steadfast love –
love that never quits,
love that never gives up, even in the face of disappointment,
love that is poured out, even when it is not deserved.

It is the kind of love God shows throughout the Biblical story,
and the love God shows to the whole world through Jesus Christ.

Psalm 23 says that God pursues us in such steadfast love.

The Lord, the Good Shepherd, relentlessly searches for us and comes after us,
to show us God’s love and blessing.

So it is not up to us to somehow find God.

We are invited to open ourselves in faith to how God is reaching to us right now with grace.
