Victory over Evil

How can we possibly win the victory over evil, since we are assailed by evils, both in the world at large, and within our personal lives?

We need a Savior. We need a power beyond ourselves that can rescue us from our bondage to sin and death, and deliver us from the power of evil.

That saving power comes to us in Jesus Christ. So the Scriptures urge us to put our trust in Christ and His uplifting power. As it is said in I Peter, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time . . . and after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.” (I Peter 5:6,10)

We can never win the victory on our own. But we can join with Paul in exclaiming, “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” (I Corinthians 15:57)
